After waiting another week, a new chapter is out. Friday is the only day I live for. This is the day which the newest chapter of d gray man is out.
Chpt 166 has proven my theory that Allen is a host. Nothing great since everyone can see that he is not the 14th and he has so many powers inside him, doesn't it just tell you directly, 'i am a host'.
The most shocking thing is how different Allen's personality is. He is a complete rugged boy with not the slightest elegant aura we see now. I can imagine him using a pretty rough language for the japanese version. In english, he sounds all the same but i strongly believe a difference in language. He did drop 'keigo' 敬語 once in a while when he speaks with Lenalee and Johnny and strongly emphasized by them in the previous chapter.
next question is 'Why shows us this?' Is Hoshino sensei trying to show us Allen is assimilating with the Black Order? or the other way round that Allen is, in fact, still putting a distance between himself and others instead.
chpt 166 just fills us with more questions than answers.
the beginning of chpt 166 shows a dirty young boy speaking to a clown. we later found out the clown is Mana and the little boy is Allen. ok, not really since we can see the boy's hand is red in the beginning when he rub away Mana's saliva from his face. this is where more questions kicks in.
from their interaction at first, mana says he doesn't know who allen is and he is bad with faces when at the end, he thought to himself 'so you were allen's best friend.' he's lying........who cannot tell but the underlying message is Hoshino trying to tell us Mana is well aware Allen is hosting his brother's soul? or he saw a potential in allen to host his brother's soul?
allen mentioned his parents abandoned him and mana adopted him. one can say mana adopted him after this encounter but the allen we saw in his memory with mana is this really really young boy around 7 years old. however the allen we see now in this chapter is easily 12 or 13 year old and not only is he not close to mana, he doesn't seem to like mana very much either. the allen in allen's memory doesn't has long hair either. so did mana altered allen's memory when he took him away, to protect allen/his brother's host which will explain the change in personality?
or it is simply hoshino sensei forgot his/her settings for allen's childhood images. cross said it clearly 14th memories is implanted into allen. since implanting is so easy, altering memories won't be difficult. maybe cross used maria to implant '14th' into allen, maria does has mind control power.
cross made a pact with the 14th to protect mana and in turn, he (14th) will return to mana. so what did cross get? no way cross will do all these things of protecting mana for nothing. what did he get? allen? a fighting machine? allen is pretty much just a fighting machine now. then, how do they know who is the host? how does everyone know allen will be hosting the 14th?
then, as the story proceed, it seems like allen doesn't remember this part. (at first i thought he remember as past fades to present to allen's sad face seems to be hinting something but then again, i doubt anyone can recall so much things in the split second of opening a door) although he seems to remember mana's clown face but mana is a traveling clown so it won't be surprising, allen would have plenty of chances to see that.
overall, poor poor allen, just hate everyone and go on a rampage. no one cares who you are, as long as you are a host for both 14th and the innocence. knowing the truth isn't the best. by chinese saying 傻人有傻福 which in english, it is a blessing of a fool not knowing. by knowing so much now, allen is not just going to question how much he can trust in mana, he is going to question his existence and his relationship with others as well. has 'allen' ever exist? who can i trust in this world? he may end up withdrawing and began to distrust people. if he did, the allen we know will truly disappear.
